文化融合过程中的身份建构——以《喜福会》为例

The Construction of Identity in the Process of Cultural Integration——Take The Joy Luck Club as an Example

二十世纪以来,学者们关于文化身份认同问题的探讨已经从早期单一固定的身份,走向双重甚至多元文化身份的认识,而文化身份认同的背后,体现的是不同文化融合的程度。本文旨在通过对《喜福会》中所体现的中美文化的融合程度来分析小说人物文化身份的建构,可以得出这个融合过程在不同文化交流中会一直进行,融合不代表不同文化的同化或者消解,相反文化融合的过程也是文化自我找到真正独立的特殊方式,真正的文化独立建立在融合的基础上,而真正的融合存在于文化协商的动态平衡中。

Since the twentieth century, scholars have realized that the cultural identity has changed from the fixed one to double even multiple ones, from which it is actually the degree of cultural integration among different cultures. This paper aims at analyzing the construction of the characters~ cultural identity by presenting the sino--American cultural integration in The Joy I.uck Club. It can be seen that the cultur- al integration exists all the time among different cultures, while integration does not mean the assimilation or melting of one culture to others; on the contrary, the integration reveals the real independence of differ- ent cultures in special forms, in which the real cultural independence is based on integration and the real in- tegration exists in the dynamic balance of cultural negotiation.
