经过大自然1 600多年的洗礼,云冈石窟这座开凿于公元5世纪中叶、具有皇家风范的造像,成为了中西文化融合的历史丰碑。1961年,保存至今的北魏皇家石窟群——独特、典型的云冈石窟被国务院公布为首批全国重点文物保护单位;2001-12,它又被联合国教科文组织批准列入"世界文化遗产"名录;2007-05,它成为了国家首批5A级旅游景区。近年来,山西省大力扶持和创新发展文化旅游产业,大力发展以云冈石窟为核心的旅游资源,带动区域经济科学发展,建设了世界一流的云冈文化旅游大景区。云冈石窟研究院逐步创新出一条符合云冈石窟文化产业持续发展的道路,为世界遗产地的科学保护和文化传承作出了卓越的贡献。
