从关联理论看电影对白的翻译——以《满城尽带黄金甲》英文字幕翻译为例

A Study of Film Dialogue Translation from the Perspective of Relevance Theory:a case study of the film Curse of the Golden Flower

中国电影的外映是中国文化走出去战略的一部分和有效手段之一。中国电影对白中充满了中国文化特色词,给电影的外译带来了一定的挑战。关联理论是一种交际理论,它把交际看成是一种"明示-推理"的过程。关联理论对电影字幕翻译,尤其是电影对白中中国文化特色词的翻译有很强的解释力。本文试图用关联理论解释电影《满城尽带黄金甲》的英文字幕翻译,并基于这一理论提出"语境含义分析法",以期对电影字幕翻译,特别是电影对白中中国文化特色词的翻译提供一点参考。

Showing Chinese films outside China is part of and an effective way of the Chinese Culture Going Global Strategy. Chinese film dialogues are filled with Chinese culture-specific words, which poses a considerable challenge for translators. The relevance theory, as a theory of communication, regards communication as an ostensive-inferential process. It has a strong interpretive power for film subtitling translation, esp., translation of Chinese culture-specific words in film dialogues. This paper attempts to explore the film subtitling translation of the Chinese film Curse of the Golden Flower from the perspective of relevance theory, and propose a ＂Contextual Implicature Analysis＂ based on this theory, in the hope of shedding some light on film dialogue translation, esp., translation of Chinese culture-specific words in film subtitling translation.
