Outcome after hemispherectomy in patients with drug-resistant epilepsy

半球切除术和半球离断术是儿童和青少年药物难治性癫癎的有效治疗方法。此种治疗方法用于儿童和青少年有大脑半球损伤者,其原因为先天性(如皮质发育畸形)、获得性(如围生期脑梗死)或进行性疾病(如Rasmussen脑炎)。此种治疗方法最客观的是选择性病例发作消失率可达80%,此外认知功能、运动功能和生活质量的预后均良好。

Hemispherectomy, as well as hemispherotomy, is an effective treatment for children and adolescents with drug- resistant epilepsy. The procedure is considered in children and adolescents with hemispheric damage due to congenital（e.g. malformation of cortical development）, acquired（e.g. perinatal cerebral infarction） or progressive diseases（e.g. Rasmussen encephalitis）. As the main objective of this procedure, seizure control can be achieved in up to 80% of selected cases. Besides, the cognitive and motor function as well as the quality of life has shown good outcome.
