In May through August 2015, Guizhou Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology and other institutions conducted large-scale excavation to the tomb of Yang Hui, the 25th generation of the tusi of the Bozhou Prefecture of the Ming Dynasty located at Tuanxi Town in Zunyi County. The unearthed epitaph showed that the rectangular stone-chamber tomb consisting of three chambers built abreast was the joint burial of Yang Hui and his two wives (nee Yu and Tian, respectively). The tomb had been looted for many times before the excavation, large amount of pottery figurine fragments and coffin debris were left in the grave; in the waist pit beneath the chamber of Mrs. Yu, well-preserved figures of the Four Supernatural Beings and land contract were unearthed. At the same time with the excavation, comprehensive detecting and recovering of the graveyard were also conducted, the gate and four tiers of platforms of the graveyard were revealed, the locations and orientations of the walls of the graveyard were confirmed. This excavation made clear the plans of the tomb and the graveyard of Yang Hui and the relationships among the remains, which provided clear and reliable materials for the exploration on the characteristics and development of the funeral customs of the Yang Family of the Bozhou Prefecture.
