摘要
在过去二十年间的中国哲学研究中,无论华语或英语学术圈内,都能观察到荀子思想研究之崛起或复兴。荀子哲学开始获得新的生命。以这样对荀子研究的新的趋势为背景,根据笔者过去二十多年进行的荀子研究获得的若干心得以及最近十多年推动的荀子研究者之间的交流的经验来构想荀子思想研究之未来展望,认为荀子的"礼治"思想能对21世纪的伦理学(包括我们对伦理生活的实践)、社会、政治哲学各方面的发展体现新的角色和意义。
In the field of Chinese philosophy research in Chinese and English speaking countries for the past 20 years, a signifi-cant phenomenon has been the revival and reevaluation of Xunzi studies. More importantly, Xunzi＇s philosophy, especially his idea of ＂li＂ （ rituals and social norms, or the rule for proper conduct） is presently becoming an actual orientation for making our lives more ethical and meaningful. Bearing this in mind, based on the author＇s own research experience, this paper envisions several roles for future Xunzi research in the fields of ethics and social and political science, as well as practical contributions to our practice of ethical life.
