Spin welding is a mature and uncomplicated technique for welding thermoplastic parts that utilizes a circular spinning motion, in conjunction with applied pressure, to weld two parts together. It is the preferred technique for thermoplastic parts with a circularaxis＂ joint which have high bond strength/hermetic requirements. It＇s ideal for large and small part plastic assembly as well as a wide range of thermoplastic resins. Hermetic sealing capability is central to the popularity of spin welding. This article presents a review of a number of aspects, e.g. principle and processes, process parameters, welding equipment, joint design, weldability, characteristics,applications, common problems and troubleshooting, of the technique.
