后严复话语时代:叶君健对严复翻译思想的拓新

The Age of Post Yan Fu Discourse:Ye Junjian's Development of Yan Fu's Translation Thought

本文探讨了叶君健对严复翻译思想的继承和拓新,考察了叶君健对严复的"信达雅"的反思及在此基础上提出的独特阐释观。叶君健对严复的"雅"的内涵的拓展在于,"雅"不只是一种修辞或风格上的文雅和典雅,更是译者的一种文学情怀和个性表现。叶君健翻译中的创造性阐释观与严复的按语阐释的理念异曲同工。不仅如此,叶君健的"翻译报国"与严复的"救亡图存"的翻译动机之间存在着关联性。叶君健在诸多方面极大地拓展了严复翻译思想的阐释空间,为当代中国翻译理论话语的构建做出了贡献。

The present paper tentatively investigates Ye Junjian＇s development and renewal of Yan Fu＇s translation thought. It explores Ye Junjian＇s reflection on Yan Fu＇s translation criteria ＂faithfiihmss, expressiveness and elegance＂ and on Ye＇s personal interpretation view. It is found that Ye further develops Yah Fu＇s connotation of elegance. To Ye,elegance is not merely a rhetoric or translation style. Rather,it is an individualistic expression of a translator＇s literary temperament. In addition, Ye＇s creative interpretation and Yah Fu＇s adding commentary to his translations shared relevance. Furthermore, both Ye Junjian and Yan Fu have been similar in using translation as a motivation to save Chinese nation ;while Ye is characterizd by ＂dedicating himself to the service of his country through translating＂ ,Yan is typified by ＂national salvation＂. The author concludes that in many aspects Ye Junjian has greatly expanded Yah Fu＇s thought and contributed his part in building contempory Chinese translational theoretical discourse.
