How to Design Business Models to Adapt to the Environment?Theoretical Framework from the Perspective of CAS

摘要 商业模式是一个复杂适应系统(complex adaptive system,CAS),企业如何设计这一复杂适应系统去应对环境变化是当前理论界及实践界亟须解决的问题。本文基于CAS理论,探寻企业设计商业模式以适应环境的作用机理。文章通过分析效率型和创新型商业模式的不同商业模式结构及这些结构所形成的不同组织适应性,阐释了两种商业模式设计影响组织适应性形成的不同路径及机理;建立了商业模式设计影响组织适应性的理论框架,提出了研究命题,并指出了研究的不足和未来研究方向。 Business model is a complex adaptive system (CAS), and how to design the complex adaptive system to deal with environmental changes is an urgent problem to be solved in theory and practice fields.Based on CAS theory, this paper analyzes the role of busi- ness model design in adapting to the environment. Through the analysis of different structures of efficiency-based and innovation-based business models and organizational adaptation resulting from these different structures, it explains the different paths of the effects of these two business models on organizational adaptation.Then it establishes a theoretical framework for the effect of business model design on organizational adaptation, puts forward the research topics and points out the shortcomings and future research directions.
