Cold heading steel is the steel materials for processing fastening pieces. The common quality problems of pro- cessing the fastening pieces are prone to cold forging cracking which was mainly caused by the heredity of wire defects. The problems of cold forging cracking of cold heading steel wire and the causes are stated, the countermeasures and methods for reducing the cracking are given, which help reduce the defect rate.
