The common failure modes as well as the main online and offline detection technologies of the steel vertical storage tank are discussed. On account of the corrosion of the tank bottom, tank wall and tank deck, the applications of the magnetic leaking detection technology, the acoustic emission online detection technology and the high frequency guided wave detection technology along with their combinations are emphatically introduced.
