扬克悲剧的社会生态内涵析论

An Interpretation of Social Ecological Connotations of Yank's Tragedy

文章借助生态文学批评理论的社会生态维度对尤金·奥尼尔的早期代表作《毛猿》进行重新解读,从三个方面分析主人公扬克与群体、社会阶层及异类之间的种种关系,揭示人与人之间互相隔膜、疏离、怨恨、倾轧构成的恶劣社会生态环境正是扬克悲剧产生的社会动因;是恶劣的社会生态环境导致了扬克的悲剧命运,而恰恰又是无法改变的社会生态决定了扬克悲剧的不可逆性或必然性。

By means of the social ecology dimension of eco-criticism, this paper analyzes different rela- tionships from three aspects of Yank and group, Yank and all strata, Yank and people not of the same clan in The Hairy Ape, an early classic play by Eugene ONeill. It is an attempt to reveal lack of mu- tual understanding, alienation, personal grudge and infighting contribute to the cutthroat social eco- environment, which exactly is the social drive for Yank＇s tragedy. And this unchangeable social ecolo- gy determines the irreversibility and inevitability of Yank＇s tragedy.
