院落作为传统民居建筑的一部分,在改善环境、促进邻里关系方面发挥了很大作用。文章介绍传统民居院落文化的特点,并结合实例详细介绍由传统院落演变而来的适合现代住宅的院落形式,即"垂直院落"的各种形式。

Courtyards, as a part of traditional residential building, played important role in improving enviromnent and promoting neighborhood relation. This paper introduces characters of traditional residential courtyard culture, and introduces various forms of＂vertical courtyard＂ that is evolved from traditional courtyard and suitable for modern residences with practical examples.
