Preliminary Discussion on Development of Postal Service and Urban Culture of Qingdao in China's Republician Era

邮政是现代城市公共基础设施不可或缺的组成部分。一座城市的邮政发展水平也从侧面显示了这座城市的现代化程度和市民生活面貌。德占期间,邮政事业开始进驻青岛。民国时期,青岛邮政的变化主要体现在规模化、制度化和人员的专业化几个方面。同时,民国时期青岛邮政的发展影响了青岛市民的生活方式和娱乐方式,成为民国时期青岛城市文化的重要组成部分。

Postal service is a necessary part of the modern urban infrastructure. The postal development level of a city indirectly reflects the modernization degree and the citizen＇s life style. During the German occupation, Qingdao started to have the postal service. In the Republic of China, the postal service was booming with the characteristic of large scale, systematism and professionalization. Meanwhile, the development of postal service had an influence on citizens＇ life style and entertainment in Qingdao, which became a significant part of the urban culture of Qingdao in the Republic of China.
