摘要
ESL课程是指美、加等国向母语为非英语人士提供英语培训课程。通过在美国中西部研究型大学,爱荷华州立大学(ISU)近一年的课堂观摩、学生访谈等活动,对ISU的ESL教学的教学理念、课程设置模式等方面进行深入了解。在此基础上结合国内EFL英语教育现状,对比分析ESL和EFL之间的主要区别及其成因,并提出ESL课程对国内EFL课程的启示。
ESL courses refer to the training programs provided to the non-native English speakers in English speaking countries such as USA and Canada. Through almost a year's class observation and interview with teachers and students from Iowa State University(ISU), a large Midwestern Research University, the author conducted a study on the teaching philosophy and curriculum of its ESL education. Based on this understanding and the current situation of EFL teaching, the author analyzes the differences between ESL and EFLand proposes the experience drawn from ESL teaching for EFL curriculum in China.
