A Six-Ts approach to project-based ESP teaching and its effectiveness

摘要本研究运用内容依托式教学理念,基于"6T"路径为工科大学生开设大学英语拓展课程ESP工程英语。ESP工程英语教学以语言为媒介,以专业知识内容为驱动,以产品研发项目为主要任务。对252名ESP课程学习者的项目报告、产品陈述、调查问卷的定量和定性分析表明,基于"6T"路径的ESP工程英语课程设计和研发项目任务有助于学习者提高英语技能,掌握专业内容知识,由此实现ESP课程本土化开发建设的目的。 Based on the theory of Content-based Instruction, this study applies the Six-T＇s approach to engineering English, an ESP course for college students of engineering. In the ESP course, tasks of R＆D projects are implemented to integrate English skills with engineering knowledge. The quantitative and qualitative analysis of 252 students＇ project reports, product presentations and questionnaires indicates that the course design and R＆D projects of engineering English help the students improye English skills and acquire engineering knowledge for their future professional scenarios, thus achieving the purpose of the ESP course.
