Objective To evaluate the application effect of peer education to nursing students' early stage practice in infectious disease, and to search an effective management of nursing students training in infectious disease hospital. Methods Totally 100 nursing students taking internship in a hospital from July 2014 were randomly divided into a control group and an experimental group. Both the two groups participated in internship training which organized by the nursing department at the same time. Meanwhile, the experimental group received peer education. The nursing students in two groups received pressure measurement at the beginning into the hospital and 1 month,2months after intervetion. Results After 1 month's intervention, the total score of practice pressure and stressors in workload, the nature of work, preparation for internship, interpersonal relationship in the experimental group were significantly lower than those of the control group(P0.05). There was no statistical difference in aspects of work support and learning conflict. After 2 months' intervention, the total score of practice pressure and stressors in workload, the nature of work, preparation for internship in the experimental group were significantly lower than those of the control group(P0.05). Conclusion At the beginning of the intership in infectious disease hospital, nursing students are in high levels of stress state. Peer education can alleviate the pressure of them, and having continued effect.
