意象图式视角下英语多义动词throw词义衍生的历时考察

A Diachronic Analysis of the Semantic Change of the English Polysemous Verb Throw from the Perspective of Image Schema

本文在意象图式视角下,采用《牛津英语大辞典》提供的历时语料,对英语多义动词throw的词义衍生过程作了较为详尽的考察。研究发现,英语多义动词throw词义衍生过程遵循路径图式;意象图式具有动态特征,随着历时语境和共时语境的变化而变化。

Based on the diachronic entries and the relevant data provided by the Oxford English Dictionary, this paper conducts a detailed analysis of semantic change of the English polysemous verb throw from the perspective of image schema. It is found that semantic change of the English polysemous verb throw follows Path Schema and that image schema is a dynamic pattern and changes in the diachronic context and synchronic context.
