The so-called un-inlay turquoises were used as dress ornaments in Erlitou Culture. They were mainly shaped as beads, and sometimes as pendants. We can functionally classify them into groups such as eardrops, necklaces, wristlets, and crests, etc. It is hard to confirm the relationship between the form and the function of turquoise objects because they were processed and polished according to the nature shape rather than the ideal form. Un-inlay turquoise items emerged in the first period of Erlitou Culture and then gradually became prosperous in the later periods. It was reported that the un-inlay turquoises were all found in the adults graves.
