莫高轶事·我的敦煌生涯(七)——千相塔残塑的整理及第17窟洪辩像的迁移

Mogao Stories——My Life Career at Dunhuang(Ⅶ):About the Organization of the Remaining Statues of the Qianxiang Pagoda and the Removal of Hong Bian's Statue in Cave 17

这篇短文回忆两件事。其一是关于王圆箓所建千相塔的拆除时间,以及后来对塔中的残塑的处理,反映当时对千相塔发现文物处理不太精心造成残像的进一步残坏。第二莫高窟第17窟即著名的藏经洞,洞窟中现有的洪辩真身塑像,原来不在此窟中,而是存放在第362窟中。据分析,第362窟塑像应属于17窟中的洪辩真身,1965年经常书鸿所长决定,将该像由第362窟迁回到第17窟中。作者是迁像经手人之一,特回忆此过程备查考。

This short paper recalls two events. The first event is the disassembly of the Qianxiang Pagoda built by Taoist priest Wang Yuanlu and the further handling of the remaining statues in the pagoda. This paper finds that the statues were damaged due to the careless handling of cultural relics at that time. The second event is about the statue of Hong Bian, which was originally in cave 362 instead of cave 17 where it is today（ also known as the fabled Library Cave）. The statue in cave 362 was identified to be that of Hong Bian in cave 17,leading director Chang Shuhong to move it back into cave 17 in 1965. The author participated in the removal of this statue at the time and draws on this experience as reference.
