Jane Austen applies new narrative techniques - internal focalization and occasional shift of focalization in her last work Persuasion which she chooses the heroine Anne as the internal focalizer who gradually gains her female narrative authority with the appropriate shift of focalization which contributes to the narrative flexibility of the novel. This narrative strategy is employed by Austen to express her feminist awareness and build her female narrative authority.
