摘要
医学英语词汇因为其学科要求和历史原因,形、义等都具有鲜明的特点,即词素结构复杂、音节繁多,这使得学生的记忆难度加大;但是这样的难题并不是无法攻破的。文章以系统功能语言学理论作为框架,讨论了多模态话语在教学中的协同作用,并提出多模态教学法在医学英语词汇教学中的应用。并对两个教学案例进行了对比,探讨了在实际教学过程中,不同模态对教学效果的促进作用。研究发现,在医学英语词汇教学方面,除了传统的听觉和视觉模态,触觉模态的应用也有着非常重要的作用;多模态教学的应用应当贯穿全部教学环节,将医学英语词汇的教学回归到多维度的真实场景中,提升学习的有效性和趣味性。
English for medical purposes is featured with morphological and semantic complexity,which makes it difficult for medical students. Based on theories of systemic functional linguistics,this paper discusses the synergy of different modes in multimodal discourse,and attempts to apply multimodality to the teaching of vocabulary in English for medical purposes. It compares two classroom teaching of English for medical purposes and how differently multimodal discourses coordinate. It was found that,apart from auditory and visual modes,tactile mode also plays an important role in vocabulary learning. Moreover,in order to improve the learning efficiency and students’ interest,multimodality is supposed to be applied throughout to the whole process of teaching and learning.
