The neural mechanism for the psychological maltreatment of children contributes to a better under-standing of this theme in a developmental perspective. This study focuses on the brain mechanism and the stress system related to psychological maltreatment. Specifically, the authors review the current study of the brain structure and functions, including the hippocampus, the corpus callosum and the cortex, expound the harm done by the psychological maltreatment of children to the normal operation of the HPA axis, and based on resilience, analyze the neural mechanism for the psychological maltreatment of children in dealing with stress events. The study suggests that the future research should focus on diversified research methods and various research objects, and based on the research outcomes of neuroscience, offer appropriate interventions to protect children.
