《马桥词典》处理下乡插队时当地农民的生活,《暗示》以知青生活为依据,却展现出野心勃勃的哲学层面的抽象追索,《日夜书》则第一次正面追忆知青自己的青春和现实。近20年的时间,仅通过三部内容侧重点各不相同的长篇小说全力呈现知青生活,显示出韩少功对创作有着耐心、慎重的整体考量。《日夜书》体现出向感性、诗意和文学性的谨慎回归,尤其小说中有关小安子和马楠的刻画,流露出对于人生中忧伤"诗意"小心翼翼的呵护,这种欲说还休的情感流露,在以前韩少功的创作中,几乎不曾出现。

While Ma Qiao Dictionary depicts the life of local farmers in the rural areas where educated youths settled down,and Insinuation approaches the ambitious abstract pursuit at the philosophical level based on the life of educated youths,The Book of Day and Night aims to positively recall the youth and the reality of educated youths for the first time. In the recent 20 years,Han Shaogong has striven to portray the life of educated youths just by way of three novels with different contents and focus—a demonstration of Han＇s patient and prudent overall consideration in his literary writing. The prudent return to sensibility,poetic quality and literariness in The Book of Day and Night,esp. the portrayal of Little Lu An and Ma Nan which is reflective of the scrupulous care for the sorrowful ＂poetic quality＂in life—the unspoken emotion expression —has almost never occurred in previous works by Han Shaogong.
