"改革小说"的"现代化"想象建基于中国现代性的逻辑。与此相对应"改革小说"中的现实塑形同样是一种特定的现代性意识形态的表意形式。小说借助现代性话语对历史的断裂性叙述,与对现实的浪漫化处理相辅相成,其中所隐含的则是对其历史——"社会主义文化/文学"遗产的改写式继承。

The imagination of ＂modernization＂in ＂novels on reform＂is based on the logic of Chinese modernity; while their reality reconstruction is one ideographic form of the specific ideology of modernity as well. Novels on reform aim to narrate history discontinuously through the discourse of modernity—a supplement to a romantic approach to the reality—and what is implicit is the adaptive inheritance of history—the heritage of ＂socialist culture and literature＂.
