An Integrated Cognitive Model Analysis of English Resultatives

英语动结构式的句法形式复杂多样,很难对其进行统一解释。在认知语法框架下,通过整合Langacker的典型事件模型和Croft的致使链模型,对动结构式的各类句法表现形式进行统一解释。该整合模型的优越性在于能克服以往分析方法无法统一解释此构式所表现出的所有句法形式的缺点,即对该构式中的成分预测、限制性条件以及构式是否合乎语法等问题进行解释。此外,该模型对不同说话者对派生构式的可接受性问题也具有一定的解释力。

Because of various and complex syntactic structures of English Resuhatives, it is not an easy task to give a unified explication of them. Within the framework of cognitive grammar, this thesis is aimed to achieve a unified explanation by integrating Langacker＇s Canonical Event Model with Croft＇s Causal Chain Model. This integrated model has its own superiority over the previous analysis in their explanatory power, i. e. , the former can explain in uniformity the component implications, the constraints and the grammaticality of English Resultatives. Furthermore, this model also possesses the explanatory power of the acceptability of different derived constructions among different speakers
