福克纳的小说《献给艾米莉的玫瑰》中讲述了美国南方贵族艾米莉在清教文化和父权制影响下孤独而又悲惨的一生。黑奴托比对女主人不离不弃,充分显示了其善良仁爱的一面。本文以艾米莉身处的时代环境,信奉基督教的亲人以及受清教环境影响的周围人对其的态度为对比,来展示黑奴托比的善良仁爱。
From the novel of ＂ A Rose for Emily＂,Faulkner told us a misery story of a nobility,Emily,whose whole life was greatly affected by puritan culture and patriarchy. Tobe was a slave of Emily,who always took good care of Emily during her lifetime. All of this shows the kind nature of Tobe. This paper compares the social background in which Emily had suffered,the Christian relatives of Emily and the neighbor who was influenced by puritan culture with the black slave Tobe to see the kindness and goodness of him.
