This study examines the attitude of Chinese university student volunteers towards World Englishes before and after World Englishes(WE) knowledge training and their adaptability to different English varieties. Participants are 200 volunteers and are divided into the examine group and the control group with the former one receiving a short-term WE knowledge training. A subjective projection test has been administered among all the participants before and after the training, including 6 varieties of WE: American English ( AE), British English ( BE ), Australian English ( AusE ), Indian English ( IE ), China English ( CE ) , and Japan English (JE). Results show that ( 1 ) there is no significant difference of the accuracy rates of variety recognition as well as the Status traits of six varieties. (2) the examine group evaluates AE,IE & CE significantly more favorable than the control group with regards to overall and solidarity traits. Such results indicate that increased evaluation of CE and IE on one hand, and stable stereotypes on the other hand.
