为研究布龙菲尔德语义思想,从早期心灵主义的语言语义观、中后期行为主义的语言语义观、对意义问题的具体论述、形式和意义的关系等4个方面进行了论述和评价。研究表明,布龙菲尔德的语义思想虽然并不完善,但却在许多方面见解独到,对语义研究有启发意义。

This paper reviews four aspects of Bloomfield＇s ideas on meaning, including his mentalist approach to meaning at the early stage of his scholarly life, his view of meaning at the middle and early stages, his explorations on some specific issues of meaning, and his elucidation on the relation between meaning and form. Appropriate comments are provided accordingly. It is shown that though immature as a whole, Bloomfield＇s ideas on meaning are insightful in many respects and are still inspiring for present-day study of meaning.
