The paper studies the reason why the rolling bearings of a high-speed rod mill wear and tear quickly and are consumed in great amount. Pretightening technique can solve the problem, prolong the life time of the rolling bearings, allows for safe and high efficient operation of wire rod mills to produce satisfactory products for markets and lays the good foundation for the subsequent processing of products.
