科学理性的倡导与文明的再造——对胡适文化思想的一种解读

胡适在新文化运动时期提出"再造文明"的构想,在方法论层面上将文化的改造问题归结为方法和态度的问题,试图通过对暗含在传统文化发展脉络中的科学方法和自觉涌现在西方现代文化中的科学理性的揭示和倡导,来实现文化的改造。由于实验主义方法的局限性,胡适过于从方法角度推崇科学理性,而忽视了对承载这种科学态度和方法的文化内容的考察,所以难以真正实现新文化的创造。

Hu Shi proposed the idea of ＂reconstruction of civilization＂ during the New Culture Movement. He transformed the problem of culture reconstruction to the method of culture and attitude problems at methodological level, trying to achieve the transformation of culture by revealing and advocating scientific rationality, which implies in the development of traditional culture and emergences in the modern Western culture. Due to the limitation of the experimental method, Hu overly respected of scientific rationality from the perspective of methodology, and ignored investigation of the cultural content, leading to the difficulty in creation of a new culture.
