摘要
美国当代作家麦克·坎宁安的《时时刻刻》因为将弗吉尼亚·伍尔夫及代表作《达洛维夫人》作为故事蓝本而引发了众多批评家的讨论,然而小说中涉及的明流现象却很少被关注。本文将分析《时时刻刻》中名流的文化意义。文章将从名流的商品化,个人价值的衡量标尺以及对其不同的态度体现出的独特的个人品味三个方面来分析其在小说中的作用,并通过这些分析折射出大众文化在普通人民生活中的作用。
The Hours, written by Michael Cunningham as its chief source, has attracted wide criticism, however, , Taking Virginia Woolf's famous novel Mrs. Dalloway seldom critics paid any attention to the stardom in the novel. This paper will analyze its cultural implication of celebrities from the following three aspects : commercializa- tion, measurement of individual value, and different attitudes towards their particular taste. And also the effects of the mass culture on ordinary people's life will be discussed.
