Tengchong had long been an important city along the business road connecting China,Myanmar and India since ancient times. The caravan industry plays an indispensable role for the city＇s economic, cultural and information exchanges with the outside world. Till now, there is still a saying that＂Tengchong is s jade city built on horseback＂. During the Republic of China,Yunnan-Myanmar trade was extremely prosperous, and the caravan industry developed rapidly,which contributed a lot to China-Myanmar trade.
