《红楼梦》第三十一回回目"因麒麟伏白首双星"暗示了白头偕老的姻缘。"白首双星"的男女主角既不是贾母和张道士,也不是史湘云和卫若兰。从成书的角度考察,这一回目本是初稿中的回目,作者在修订的过程中没有来得及对它进行修改,它所预示的其实是史湘云与贾宝玉白头偕老的结局。

The title of the 31th chapter of The Dream o f Red Mansions, ＂the Unicorn Foreshad- ows the Two Inseparable Stars＇suggests a marriage that is supposed to grow old. The hero and the heroine of it do not refer to Mother Jia and Taoist Zhang, nor Shi Xiangyun and Wei Ruolan. Studying from the perspective of writing, this title is the original one in the first draft, while the author was not able to modify it in revision. Therefore, it actually indicates the original ending that Shi Xiangyun and Jia Baoyu got married and grew old together.
