Pioneer of the Research of “Wenzhou Study”——To Commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the Birth of Mr.SUN Yiyan

孙衣言是晚清特立之儒,在重振永嘉学术、培养经世之才和留存文化遗产等诸多方面,为晚清温州文化建设作出了巨大贡献。他对温州学术的重视史无前例,面对内忧外患,力图将区域遗产转变为面对现实的活的文化。他的努力,彰显了南宋永嘉学术的繁荣景象,并为近代温州文化发展奠定了基础。

SUN Yiyan is a special scholar of late Qing Dynasty. He has made great contribution for Wenzhou culture construction in late Qing Dynasty in reviving the Yongjia school, fostering professionals of great capacity and preserving cultural heritage. His stress on Wenzhou study is unprecedented. Faced with domestic trouble and foreign invasion, he tried to transform the regional heritage to the living culture keeping pace with the society. His efforts highlight the prosperity of Yongjia study in Southern Song Dynasty, which lays foundation for the modern cultural development of Wenzhou.
