斯各特在小说《眷恋》中运用了象征手法,将所要表达的主题与感想融于小说人物的日常生活之中。无论是小说主人公的住所,家中的契约箱,还是女主人的初恋情人的背影,均被赋予某种象征意义。不仅如此,小说的题目"眷恋"一词也具有象征意义。

Paul Scott used symbolic technique in writing the novel.He integrated the themes and sentiments into everyday lives of novel＇s characters.Such things had been endowed with symbolic meanings as the lodge in which the main characters live,the deed box,and India and the back of the heroine＇s first sexual object.Moreover,the title of the novel also had symbolic meaning.This study will explain these symbolic meanings and analyze the themes.
