The Experimental Farms' Scientific Research and Experimental Activities in the Late Qing Dynasty

清末农事试验场是中国出现最早的农业科学研究和试验机构。这些农事试验场成立后,在作物品种改良试验、种植技术试验、蚕桑试验、林果试验、肥料试验、土质研究和农作工具试验等方面展开了一系列科学研究与试验活动,标志着中国传统的经验农学开始向实验农学发展转化,对当时农业生产产生了一定影响,但其局限性也依然存在。

The experimental farms,at the late Qing Dynasty,are the earliest institution for agricultural experiments. Their research activities include breeding improvement,planting technology,silkworm and mulberry,fruits,fertilizers,soil property,and agricultural tools. The research is the mark that Chinese traditional experience- based agriculture has developed towards experimental agriculture. This had certain influence on agriculture though with limitation.
