Yu Youjun:Talking about the past

如果有谁,从人生的高峰坠入低谷,他在这个过程中就可以发现世人的真面目。人情世故世态炎凉都会看得很清楚1972年的某一个深夜,于幼军刚刚读完希特勒的《我的奋斗》,打了一个寒颤。这样的书和很多手抄本一样,在地下流传。图书馆关门,更别提书店。当书辗转流传到于幼军手里时,他只有一天一夜的阅读时间,他还读了一本《十字奖童与战火》（1950年代译本）这两本书加速了于幼军对文革的反思,他与朋友、老师交流,＂文革再这样搞下去不行,年轻时气盛,就这么有脾气＂。

Towards the end of 2015,Yu Youjun gave a lecture titled 'Rethinking the Cultural Revolution' at Sun Yatsen University.In a period of 40 years,Yu went from a language teacher to the head of the provincial party propaganda department in Guangdong Province,mayor of Shenzhen and vice-minister of the Ministry of Culture.Retiring from a storied political career,he has returned to Sun Yat-sen university as a professor- a rather interesting decision in this day and age. 'Whenever I ran into trouble,I would remember the words of Lu Xun.He said that if someone falls from on high to their lowest point,he will be able to learn the truth of the world from this experience,' Yu said.
