An Analysis of the Rhetoric Implication of the Title of Jin Ping Mei

文章立足于语文分析,从表层到深层,从显性到隐性,对《金瓶梅》书名所蕴含的修辞寓意进行深入挖掘,提炼、概括出书名的四层修辞寓意:第一层,点提小说中的三个重要女性的名字——潘金莲、李瓶儿、庞春梅;第二层,暗喻女主角的悲剧命运;第三层,象征西门庆及其家庭荣华的短暂;第四层,以"反讽"笔法映照《金瓶梅》世界的灰暗与卑污。这四层寓意,逐层延展,互相关联,共生于同一个语义场内。

This paper comprehensively analyzes the grammar meaning and the rhetoric implication of thenovel's title from the surface to the content, from the structure to the meaning, from explicit to implicit, andthe paper summarizes the four level rhetoric implication: firstly, the title refers to the three important women,namely, Pan Jinlian, Li Ping'er and Pang Chunmei, and to all the female with the tragic life; secondly, it al-ludes the tragic fate of the three women; thirdly, it hints the short prosperous time of the Xi Menqing family;fourthly, it reflects the irony writing style of the writer, contrasting purify to foulness. The four levels relate toeach other in the same semantic field.
