报刊是晚清小说传播的重要媒介。晚清报纸在刊载小说时,遵循市场运行机制,以读者为中心。作为传播者的报馆设立小说专栏,选择类型丰富的作品,并与作者采取竞猜、悬赏、征集小说等方式吸引读者参与。作为受众的读者积极响应报馆和作者的各项活动,并发表对小说及小说刊载行为的看法。以读者为中心的运作模式使报馆、作者的传播与读者接受形成良性循环,造就了晚清报载小说的有效传播。

Newspapers and periodicals were the important media for the spread of the late Qing Dynasty novels. When newspapers published novels in the late Qing Dynasty, it followed the market operation mechanism that regards readers as the center. Newspaper office as disseminator established novel column, selected the extensive works, and took the quiz, reward, the collection of novels etc. to attract readers to participate. As the readers, positive response to the activities of newspaper offices and authors, they published their views for novels and novel published behaviors. Reader-centered operational mode formed a virtuous cycle. It created the effective dissemination of the late Qing Dynasty reported novels.
