In the Han Dynasty, people had a strong sense of participation in contemporary politics, as is clearly seen from the folk proverbs popular at that time. Related to state affairs, official performance and government institutions, these folk proverbs refleeted the feelings and wishes, as well as love and hatred of the common people. They also played their part in helping evaluate and supervise the political and governing affairs of the Han Dynasty.
