澳大利亚翻译家杰夫·贝利先生旅藏二十年,精通英、藏、日等多种语言文字,近年来出版了近十部藏英双语翻译作品。本刊在他与合作者白玛嘉措即将推出最新译作《卡其帕鲁》之时对其进行了采访。杰夫·贝利先生通过文献考证和实地走访,尤其是对"Khoda(羉?繿槬?)"一词进行了详细考察,提出《卡其帕鲁》一书作者即为卡其帕鲁本人的观点,同时指出《卡其帕鲁》与古代波斯诗人萨迪著作《古洛斯坦》与《布斯坦》的渊源联系。杰夫·贝利先生认为《卡其帕鲁》是跨文化交流的结晶,里面蕴含的智慧有益于世事人心,读者应该在自己的日常生活里领悟和实践这些智慧。
The Australian translator Mr. Geoff Bailey has been living and working in Tibet for twenty years. As a master of English and Tibetan, he has published quite a few books in recent years, which cover a wide range of themes. The journal made an interview with Mr. Geoff Bailey while his new collaborative translation work Kh- ache Phalu is in the press. Mr. Geoff Bailey puts forward in the interview that the content of Khache Phalu seems heavily influenced by an ancient Persian poet named Sa＇ di, whose famous works include The Gulistan and The Bustan. In terms of the authorship, Mr. Geoff Bailey regards that there undoubtably does seem to have been a person called Khache Phalu, who more than likely would have made the initial Tibetan rendering, either orally or in writing. He also points out the hidden message of Khache Phalu-which is, imploring the readers to conduct themselves well in this life, for it surely impacts their lives now and most importantly, in the hereafter.
