外国译者翻译藏族文学典籍的策略与方法分析——一项基于《萨迦格言》英译的研究

Translation of the Tibetan Literature Works-A study based on the English translations of Ordinary Wisdom: Sakya Pandita's Treasury of Good Advice

民族文学走向世界的必经之路是翻译,同样,藏族文学典籍只有通过外译,特别是汉译和英译,才能得以更好的生存和发展。但到目前为止,中国译者外译文学典籍的效果不理想,相反,外国译者翻译的中国文学得到了目的语读者的接受。由此可见,只有了解和借鉴外国译者的翻译策略和方法,中国译者才能把中国的文学典籍更好地展示给西方读者。文章分析了藏文典籍《萨迦格言》的译者John T.Davenport的翻译策略与方法,供译者参考借鉴,以期促进中国典籍翻译的发展。

Translation is the only way to introduce the Chinese literature works to the world. It is the same to the Tibetan literature works, only are they translated into other languages, Chinese and English, in particular, they are able to survive and develop better. But so far, local translators＇ translations have not produced ideal effect in the West, on the contrary, foreign translators＇ ones have been accepted by more target readers. Therefore, only by understanding and applying foreign translator＇s translating strategies and methods, Chinese translators can pres- ent literature works to western readers better. The article analyzes the translation strategies and methods applied by John T. Davenport, the translator of the Tibetan classic, Ordinary Wisdom： Sakya Pandita＇s Treasury of Good Advice with a purpose of providing local translators some reference so as to promote the development of the Chi- nese classics＇ translation.
