This paper has provided the views of Prof. Jinfa Cai, the newest editor of The Journal for Research in Mathematics Education （JRME） who is from the University of Delaware, regarding the ways to conducting high-quality mathematics education research. The topics range from the interdisciplinary nature of mathematics education research to the conceptual framework, from identification of research questions to the determination of research methods, and from the knowledge-base to the hands-on experiences.
