援西入中:傅斯年的留学教育思想与实践

Introducing the West Science into China:Fu Sinian's Overseas Education Thoughts and Practice

作为庚款官费留学生,傅斯年早年曾先后在伦敦大学和柏林大学留学长达七年之久,回国后又长期执掌中山大学、北京大学、台湾大学等著名高校和历史语言研究所等科研机构。出于构建现代大学体系的需要,他始终关注和支持国家的留学教育事业,不仅撰写专题文章对留学目的、留学保障、留学类别、留学管理和留学条件等问题提出过诸多建议和主张,而且在实践中极力提携后学,尽力为年轻学者出国深造提供指导和帮助。傅斯年的留学教育思想内涵丰富、主旨鲜明,其援引西方科学以改造中国传统学术的思想理路,是中国现代教育效法欧美经验的有益探索,对中国现代大学教育的发展产生了重要影响。

As a returned student supported by the Boxer Indemnities, Fu Sinian had studied in London University and Berlin University for seven years. After returning home- land, Fu Sinian had served as leader in Zhongshan University, Peking University, Taiwan University and the Institute of History and Philology. In order to build a modern university system, he had always been concerned about and supported Chinese overseas education. He had not only put forward suggestions and opinions, but also provided guidance and help for young scholars to study abroad through his personal academic influence. Fu Sinian＇s over- seas education theory was rich in content and was clear in purpose. In order to reform Chi- nese traditional academic, he had wanted to introduce the west science into China. This prac- tice was a useful exploration for Chinese modern education to learn from European and A- merican countries, and had an important influence on the development of Chinese modern u- niversity education.
