监狱亚文化是与监狱主流文化相伴而生的文化，是一种存在于罪犯之间的隐性文化现象，是以低层次性为主体的庸俗文化。监狱亚文化是服刑罪犯适应监狱生活环境的生存文化，是罪犯创造的自我的“合理”文化。监狱亚文化是监狱与社会以罪犯为媒介信息交流的文化。

Prison subculture is a kind of recessive culture existing among the criminals, which belongs to a vulgar culture whose main body lies in low level. Meanwhile, the prison subculture is somewhat survival culture through which the criminals can adjust themselves to life in prison, and create a reasonable culture for themselves. Of course, the prison subculture is another kind of communication culture between the prison and society.
