《聊斋志异》内容丰富,"用传奇法而以志怪",但作者蒲松龄撰写小说并非天马行空,全凭虚构,许多篇章关乎地理、人物、历史事件乃至涉及明清某些法律因素,皆非杜撰。尽量熟谙有关传统文化知识或历史掌故,是今人正确解读《聊斋志异》的前提之一。今天我们为《聊斋志异》作注释,虽仍然难以面面俱到,但对于一些不大明确的问题小心求证直至细致入微,还是非常必要的,否则注家就有可能误解或曲解作者原意,从而又误导广大读者。

Liaozhai zhiyi is rich and strange in content,but this novel is not written by Pu Songling in totally fictional ways. There are plenty of articles which concern the geography,real persons,real events and even some law issues. That is why we must know well the related cultural knowledge or history stories before interpreting this novel Today when we make notes for Liaozhai zhiyi,it is necessary for us to clarify some unclear details,even if we could not explain all of them. If not,our misunderstanding or distort would mislead the readers.
