Objective To study the protective effect of adenosine preconditioning on spinal cord ischemia-reperfusion injury in rats. Methods The models of ischemia reperfusion injury were made. A total of 72 rats were randomly divided into three groups:sham operated group (A guoup) ,the i schemia-reperfusion group( B group) and the adenosine preconditioning group( C group). The three groups were further divided into three subgroups respectively. The nerve function was evaluated by BBB scoring system at the moment of 6 h ,24 h ,48 h after the reperfusion. The tissue pathological structure was observe by HE stain through optical microscope and the content of SOD and MDA were detected. Results BBB scores of both group A and group C were significantly higher than that of group B (P 〈 0. 05 ). Compared with group B, morphological abnormality in group A and B was alleviated and SOD in spinal tissues increased and MDA decreased (P 〈 0.05 ). Conclusion Adenosine pre-treatment protected spinal tissues from ischemia reperfusion induced-damage by reducing oxygen free radicals and lipid over oxidation, which helps to alleviate neural damage.
