《左传·隐公三年》“潢汙”考

A Study of “Huang Wu”(潢汙) in “Yingongsannian”of ZUOZHUAN

《左传·隐公三年》有"潢汙行潦之水"句。关于"潢汙"之意,服虔、许慎、韦昭、杜预、刘文淇和杨伯峻等人,皆出其说。本文沿刘文淇《疏证》思路,进而寻绎服、许、韦、杜四家可能引用或参考的训诂证据,辨析诸证据之间的联系,并置之于《左传》文意中理解,以为杜预"停水"说更为妥帖。考辨前贤之说,若沿文句之意进而探究文句后面所蕴含的思想,重演其考证的思路,或许能得出更有价值的认识。

There is the phrase ＂huang wu xing liao zhi shui ＂ in ＂Yingongsannian ＂ of ZUOZHUAN. About the meaning of ＂huang wu＂（ 潢汙） in it,Fu Qian,Xu Shen,Wei Zhao,Du Yu,Liu Wenqi and Yang Bojun gave their interpretations respectively. Following the reasoning of Liu Wenqi in his SHUZHENG,by investigating the evidences that Fu,Xu,Wei and Du cited and referred and analyzing their relationship among them,and by placing ＂huang wu＂in the context of ZUOZHUAN,the paper comes to the conclusion that Du Yu is right when saying that ＂huang wu＂means ＂ting shui＂（ 停水）. It is important for the researcher to analyze different views,probe the meaning underlying the texts and re- enact the reasoning of authorities.
