摘要
作为作家思想的重要组成部分,奈保尔的宗教意识呈现出鲜明的当代特征和个人风格,具体表现在以下方面:对母国印度教理性审视下激烈批判和热情赞美的矛盾统一态度;对不同宗教矛盾主张宗教融合、宗教和谐的一体化思想;对福楼拜宗教妖魔论的批判和对宗教伦理向善论的肯定、推崇和赞美。这一丰富内涵是对当今全球化时代人类面临生存和信仰困境从宗教层面予以的积极思考和回应,充分展现了奈保尔宗教审美的现代性和人文主义色彩;其中所体现的完美性和超越色彩尽管一定程度上反映出作家思想的理想化倾向,客观上却是作家世界主义和普世关怀意识在宗教层面的表征和再现。
As one important idea of a writer, V.S. Naipaul's religious thoughts incarnate contemporary particularities and his own style as the followings: his strict criticism and highly praise of Hinduism; his insistence on harmonious symbiosis of different religions; his criticism to Flaubert's demonization of ancient religion and his affirmation and appreciation of religion for goodness. It is, with its plentiful connotation, a kind of positive solution for religion to respond to the plight of survival and faith crisis for human race and exhibit of globalization. Though the perfection and transcendence of tion, it is objectively the sign and embodiment of Naipaul's religion. fully aesthetic modernity and humanity of religion in the age religious thoughts reflect to some degree Naipaul's idealizacosmopolitan and universal concern from the perspective of
